Today my work day will at least partially consist of drawing fantasy maps.
Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and tell 11-year-old Maria that all that solitary map drawing she was doing really was job training.
Today it's a very important part of the editing process. I realized that there's a poor sense of space in the manuscript. I am not completely there (in Maresi I had a very tangible sense of space, right from the start). And I need to be, in order to be able to paint the milieu in words. So I need to visualize the houses, the gardens, places indoor and out. And the best way for me to do that is with graph paper and a pen.
Sometimes my job really is the best.
